Russian gas output up 12.1% in March

Russian gas production rose by 12.1% year on year in March to 66.66bn m3, preliminary data published by the energy ministry's CDU TEK unit on April 2 shows, while first-quarter output was up 6.6% at 197.71bn m3.

The growth was driven by increased extraction by state-owned Gazprom, which reported on April 2 achieving a 10.5% yr/yr rise in production in the first quarter to 136.2bn m3. The company attributed this gain to unusually cold weather last month.

Russia produced 43.34mn metric tons of oil and gas condensate in March, according to CDU TEK, down 9.3% yr/yr due to OPEC+ restrictions. Liquids output in the first three months of the year was down 10.9% yr/yr at 125.06mn mt.
