Russia Year-to-Date Gas Output Up Nearly 12%

Russian gas production has increased significantly in the first nine months of this year.

Gas production increased by 11.8%, year-on-year to 502.165bn m3 in January-September 2017, the state’s Central Dispatching Department of Fuel Energy Complex (CDU TEK) announced October 2. The report gives total production, plus a breakdown by major producers except for Gazprom.

Gazprom also published a report October 2, saying that its gas production grew by 19.1% year on year to 339.8bn m3 in January-September 2017.

Of that, Gazprom’s gas exports increased by 11.3% to 141.2bn m3. Exports to Germany were up by 10.7%, Austria up by 54%, Czech Republic up 28.4%, Slovakia up 31.3%, and to France up by 7.1%.

One of the largest independent gas producers, Novatek, produced 34.491bn m3 in January-September 2017. Among vertically integrated oil companies, the largest gas producers in the same period were Rosneft:  35.268bn m3, Lukoil 15.7bn m3, Surgutneftegaz 7.45bn m3 and Gazprom Neft: 11bn m3.

Operators of projects based on production sharing agreements in Russia produced 18.357bn m3.

Ukraine meanwhile has also reported a significant increase in Russian gas volumes transited to markets in the west.
