Repsol, Nortegas to Set up Spanish NGV Network

Spanish oil company Repsol has signed a strategic partnership with local gas firm Nortegas Green Energy Solutions to establish a network of natural gas vehicle (NGV) fuelling points at its filling stations, Nortegas said on July 28.

The first of these fuelling points will be opened in Sestao in the northern Biscay province. The pair will invest €400,000 ($471,650) in its development, with the support of the Basque Energy Board, through its efficient mobility grant programme. Construction work began in late July.

The companies are also preparing to install two more supply points in Madrid and Gipuzkoa.

"Natural gas for vehicles is an ally in the decarbonisation process: it offers a clean alternative that is environmentally and economically efficient," Nortegas said. The company is also developing several projects to produce biomethane from landfills and wastewater treatment plants that can then be sold as vehicle fuel.
