Reliance, BP Invite Bids for KG D6 Gas

Reliance Industries (RIL) and BP have invited bids for the gas produced from the R Cluster, an ultra-deep-water gas field at block KG D6 off the east coast of India, according to a notice published on December 30 in a newspaper.

“The gas produced from KG D6 will be available for sale at the delivery point at Gadimoga near Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, tentatively from February 1 2021 subject to terms of gas sales and purchase agreement,” the notice said. S&P Global unit Crisil Risk and Infrastructure Solutions will conduct the online auction process.

RIL and BP started production from R Cluster earlier this month. The companies are developing three deepwater gas projects at KG D6 – R Cluster, Satellites Cluster and MJ – which together are expected to meet about 15% of India’s gas demand by 2023. RIL is the operator of KG D6 with a 66.67% interest and BP holds the rest.

R Cluster is located about 60 km from the existing KG D6 control and riser platform off the Kakinada coast and comprises a subsea production system tied back to the platform via a subsea pipeline.
