Reganosa to Host GLE Plenary

Reganosa's LNG terminal at the Port of Ferrol in northwest Spain is to be the venue for the next plenary meeting of Gas LNG Europe (GLE), the association representing European LNG terminal operators, in the first week of October.

GLE's membership comprises 16 LNG terminals in nine countries that together operate 90% of Europe's current LNG regasification capacity, according to a July 4 statement from Reganosa. Most are in Southern Europe, indeed six are in Spain, the country with the most terminals.

Reganosa says its selection as host "stems from the interest shown by other members... in its infrastructure offer...especially of small-scale LNG." The terminal says the event will be a chance to show how LNG can be promoted as a marine fuel, especially given Reganosa's location on the Finistere Corridor through which 40,000 ships pass each year, and because of the nearby Navantia shipyard (shown below), a leader in the repair of LNG vessels.

The event may be an opportunity for participants to glean whether Spain's Enagas, which last month expanded its ownership stake in terminals both in Spain and Chile, is any closer to realising its ambition of developing small LNG import terminals in the Canary Islands.
