ReconAfrica to Drill 1st Namibian Well in Q4

Toronto-listed Reconnaissance Energy Africa (ReconAfrica) is expected to drill its first well in Namibia in the fourth quarter of 2020, it said on May 26 in a statement.

The company said that with the Namibian government's guidance that further easing of Covid-19 restrictions could come as soon as June 1, and the anticipation that Namibian and international restrictions will be lifted during the summer, it is continuing its operational planning for the drilling of the well.

In recent days, ReconAfrica’s local personnel have taken the opportunity to return to the Kavango Basin region for site preparations at two of the company’s selected drilling locations, it said.

ReconAfrica is a junior oil and gas company engaged in the development of the newly discovered Kavango Sedimentary Basin, in northeast Namibia, where it holds a 90% working interest in a petroleum licence, comprising approximately 6.3mn contiguous acres.
