Queensland Puts 2020 Tender Releases on Hold

The Queensland government has placed the upcoming tender releases that were scheduled under the 2020 exploration programme on hold for the immediate future, it said March 25 in a statement.

This means the tender processes for two coal exploration areas on Bowen basin and 12 oil and gas exploration areas in the Bowen and Surat basin will not proceed at this time. “The delay of these tenders means the previously scheduled timeframes to close bidding and to award the tenders will also be impacted,” the government said.

The programme was announced in February under which the government is offering two coal exploration and 12 oil and gas areas in the Bowen and Surat basins. The tender areas provide opportunities for coalbed methane and other unconventional gas, and for conventional oil and gas exploration.
