Qatar Tribune: LNG Partnership Gives Strategic Dimension to Qatar-Poland Ties

WITH the second technological shipment of Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) being discharged at the Polish LNG terminal, the Ambassador of Poland to Qatar HE Krzysztof Suprowicz highlighted the importance of the energy partnership between the two countries.

Significantly, once discharged at the Polish LNG terminal it is to be distributed through the network of local pipelines to regular households and enterprises.

In a recent interview with Qatar Tribune, the ambassador said,"It's a great partnership, very promising and a tremendous additional potential to the Polish-Qatari relationship. It is a 20-year contract of LNG shipments, which can be seen as a long-term commitment, thereby lending a strategic dimension to our bilateral ties."

Elaborating his point, Suprowicz cited the challenges faced by hydrocarbon producing countries in the current climate of low oil prices. And there is also the potential for consolidating this strategic partnership between Qatar and Poland in the years to come, specifically in terms of taking advantage of the targeted capacity of Poland's new LNG terminal to supply gas to third parties in Europe.
