Qatar Looking at Long Term LNG Deals

Qatar is seeking long term contracts with Asian countries for selling LNG as shale gas fracking in US is creating a natural gas glut.

Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Co is in the process of signing deal with Asian countries like South Korea for supplying additional natural gas over next 20 years.

As gas exports from Qatar are linked to oil prices, the country plans to lock in oil indexed prices by entering in long term contracts.

However, many buyers now want price of natural gas delinked from oil prices.
