Qatar breaks ground on North Field expansion

State-owned Qatargas has started construction on four new liquefaction trains that will raise Qatar's LNG production capacity from 77 to 110mn metric tons/year, the company said on Twitter on October 17.

Qatar took a final investment decision on the North Field East (NFE) expansion project in February. The first of the four liquefaction trains is due to start up in late 2025.
