Power of Siberia Restarts After Maintenance

Russia has resumed gas flows via the 38bn m³/yr Power of Siberia pipeline to China after completing two weeks of routine seasonal maintenance, its operator Gazprom said on April 1.

The pipeline, which delivers gas from the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia, halted operations on March 16 and came back on stream on March 31. Gazprom and China's CNPC have agreed to undertake maintenance twice a year in spring and autumn.

"Gas supplies to Chinese consumers have been resumed and are going as usual," Gazprom said. The pipeline is slowly ramping up to capacity, with deliveries in the first year or so due to reach only a few billion cubic metres.
