Posco Finds Gas Offshore Myanmar

South Korea’s Posco International has discovered new gas reserves offshore Myanmar, it said February 17 in a statement.

A test in the Mahar exploration well in Block A-3 in December showed that it is expected to produce about 38mn ft3/day of natural gas, the company said. It plans to conduct appraisal drillings in the block in 2021 before finalising the plan for the prospective gas field.

The Mahar exploration well is located about 30 km south of the Shwe gas field. Posco International produces and sells gas from two Myanmar offshore gas fields - Shwe and Mya.
