Portugal: REN Terminal Expansion Completed

SMM has announced that it has completed the construction of a €19 million liquefied natural gas tank in Portugal one month ahead of the project's schedule.

The addition to the REN terminal in Sines, Portugal, was constructed under 32 months, using 150 workers at its peak, SMM says.

Included in the construction is an LNG capacity of 150,000 cubic metres in a cryogenic tank, a new send out train and a new loading bay for trucks.

SMM undertook the erection of the cryogenic tank, as well as the pipelines needed to support the project, and the equipment required to support that function.

SMM completed the work under sub-contract to TGE Corporation, which was tasked with the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of the terminal, together with SOMAGUE.
