Polish drillers benefit from shale prospects

Puls Biznesu reports the cost of drilling in Poland is reportedly over twice the amount asked in the USA, where drilling to depths of 3,000 metres is estimated to cost 6-7 million US dollars.

The Łebień LE1 well, located in the onshore Baltic Basin region of northern Poland, is targeted at the Silurian and Ordovician shales and is expected to reach target depth within 6 to 8 weeks.

Polish drilling contractors companies are in advantageous position given that alternatives available to E&P companies are limited, at the moment.
