Poland to Continue on Unconventional Path

Dr. Henryk Jacek Jezierski, Poland's deputy environment minister and chief geologist, has said there will be no moratorium on shale gas exploration in the country.

Jezierski was speaking on the opportunities and challenges of shale gas exploration in Poland seminar organized by the British Embassy in Warsaw and the Polish Institute of International Affairs,

The seminar was an opportunity to discuss important issues related to shale gas exploration in Poland. During the meeting, the Minister stressed that the immediate task was to identify and document shale gas deposits and its resources.

Jezierski stressed that Poland's environmental laws were in line with EU legislation, and that there were sufficient guarantees that shale gas exploration would be carried out with respect for the environment.
