PetroVietnam Gas receives second LNG cargo

PetroVietnam Gas (PV Gas), a unit of state-backed energy company PetroVietnam, on April 11 announced the arrival of its second LNG cargo.

The Al Jassasiya vessel, laden with 70,000 tonnes of LNG sourced from Qatar, docked at the Thi Vai LNG terminal on April 11. The regasified LNG from this cargo will be supplied to Vietnam Electricity (EVN).

Under the terms of a recent contract, PetroVietnam Gas is set to supply regasified LNG to EVN's Phu My 3 thermal power plant during the months of April and May.

The Thi Vai LNG import terminal was commissioned by PV Gas last year. With an initial handling capacity of 1mn tonnes/year, the terminal boasts a 180,000 m3 storage LNG tank, a jetty, and a regasification area. In the second phase, the terminal's capacity will be expanded to 3mn tonnes/year.
