Petronas to Operate E11 Gas Hub Off Sarawak

Malaysian state-run Petronas has taken over the operatorship of the E11 gas hub 130km offshore Bintulu, Sarawak, effective January 1, it said in a January 7 statement.

“Today marks a significant milestone for PCSB [Petronas] as the operator of the E11  hub which is pivotal in ensuring reliable, stable and cleaner energy supply to the market while continuing to develop Sarawak as a regional gas hub," vice president at Petronas, Bacho Pilong, said.

The E11 hub which has been producing since 1982 under the Malaysia LNG production sharing contract was operated by Anglo-Dutch Shell for the past 38 years. Gas from surrounding fields goes to the E11 complex for processing before being piped ashore to the Petronas LNG complex at Bintulu. Fields E8, E11, F23, F5, and F13 all supply gas to the hub.
