Petronas Receives Fourth Moss Carrier

Leading LNG shipowner MISC, controlled by Malaysian state gas and oil giant Petronas, said February 28 it has taken delivery of Seri Camar, the fourth in a series of five Moss-type Seri C Class LNG carriers.

The 150,200 m3 LNG carrier, with the distinctive row of spherical tanks, joins Seri Cenderawasih, Seri Camellia and Seri Cempaka on long-term charter to Petronas.

Seri Camar demonstrates Petronas’ commitment to advancing its integrated LNG value chain with shipping solutions and innovative vessels. Together with its sister vessels, we look forward to maintaining our record in the safe and reliable delivery of LNG cargoes,” Petronas upstream boss Mohamad Anuar Taib said.

“We’re proud to celebrate our 50th anniversary this year, growing from strength to strength to become one of the leading global providers of energy related maritime solutions and services. As we move forward and determined to be Better, Faster and Stronger, capacity building continues to be the group’s primary focus to support this agenda,” Yee Yang Chien, CEO of MISC, said.

MISC last month said that difficult market conditions in the LNG shipping segment are expected to continue in 2018 thanks to the ongoing tonnage oversupply situation.
