Petroleum Development Oman’s Khulud Tight Gas Project is Progressing Well

Petroleum Development Oman’s (PDO) Khulud tight gas project is progressing well and could open the way for potential commercialisation of other unconventional and tight gas plays in its Block 6 concession, according to a report by Oman Daily Observer.

Around a dozen wells have so far been drilled into the tight gas formation, all of which are in various stages of fracking and completion, according to PDO.

Khulud tight gas project is PDO’s first tight gas project.

According to the head of PDO’s tight gas delivery team the chief aim is to capitalise on early gas monetisation by accelerating the development of recognised sweet spots, further appraise the resource volume and mature low productive areas through reduction of well costs and increase of estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) per well, Oman Daily Observer reported.

Along with PDO, BP and Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production (OOCEP) are also exploring for tight gas in Oman. BP is developing tight gas potential of the Khazzan field in its Block 61 and Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production (OOCEP) in Block 60.
