Petrofac, Storegga Team up for Low-Carbon Projects

UK energy services provider Petrofac and clean energy developer Storegga Geotechnologies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on working together at low-carbon projects, the companies said on August 6.

"The agreement supports Petrofac and Storegga to collaborate on potential business development and project initiatives in carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen and other low carbon projects," they said. "With an initial focus on the UK continental shelf and North West Europe, the MoU also includes scope for the parties to work together internationally."

Petrofac recently won an engineering and project management office support contract at the Acorn project in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, which aims to produce hydrogen from North Sea gas starting in 2024, while capturing carbon from the process. The project's developer is Pale Blue Dot, whose holding company is Storegga.
