Petrofac bags $200mn contract in Turkmenistan

Petrofac, a services company, has been awarded a $200mn operations contract from state-owned Turkemengas for services at the Galkynysh gas field in eastern Turkmenistan, it announced on March 8.

The three-year contract encompasses the provision of personnel for supervision and support of operations and maintenance activities, technical support, procurement services, and the development and implementation of management systems for the Galkynysh gas field central processing facilities 1 and 1A.

Petrofac highlighted that its prior involvement in the Galkynysh project, completed in 2013, was one of the largest engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPC) projects delivered by its engineering & construction business unit.

The Galkynysh gas field facilities are situated near Yoloten in Mary Province. Turkmenistan has the world's fourth largest proven gas reserves, assessed by BP at over 13 trillion m3.
