PetroChina’s Changning Shale Gas Field’s Output Hits Record

PetroChina’s Changning shale gas field’s production this year has touched an all-time high of 1.4bn m3, CNPC, PetroChina’s parent company, said November 14  without providing any year-on-year comparison.

As on November 12, 92 wells were in operation in the field and output reached 6.06mn m3/day, CNPC added. The production is expected to increase to 12mn m3/d in coming months.

Changning shale gas field is in the southern part of the Sichuan basin and is one of the first pilot experimental shale gas projects in China. The shale gas-rich Sichuan basin in southwest China produced about one-third of the country's total shale gas in 2017, Xinhua reported earlier this year.
