Petrochina’s Changning Shale Gas Field Hits Milestone

Chinese state-owned Petrochina’s Changning shale gas field achieved an operation milestone with output crossing 10mn m3/day, its parent firm, CNPC, said May 22.

The company has drilled 148 wells in the field. By the end of this year, the number of wells will exceed 200, and production will cross 15mn m3/d, CNPC said.

Changning shale gas field is in the southern part of the Sichuan basin and is one of the first pilot experimental shale gas projects in China. The shale gas-rich Sichuan basin in southwest China produced about one-third of the country's total shale gas in 2017, Xinhua reported last year.
