PetroChina's 2018 Shale Gas Output Up 40% on Year

Chinese state-owned explorer PetroChina produced 4.27bn m3 of shale gas in Sichuan last year, up 40% on 2017, CNPC, PetroChina’s parent company, said January 7.

The highest daily output of shale gas last year was record 20mn m3/day, CNPC added.  PetroChina operates Changning-Weiyuan and Zhaotong projects in Sichuan basin.

The shale gas-rich Sichuan basin in southwest China produced about one-third of the country's total shale gas in 2017, Xinhua reported early-2018. In addition to PetroChina, Sinopec operates the Fuling shale gas field in Sichuan basin. Fuling is China's biggest shale gas field.
