PetroChina Starts Work on 3rd Phase of Jiangsu Terminal

Work on the third phase of PetroChina’s Jiangsu LNG terminal commenced November 26, CNPC, PetroChina’s parent company said December 3.

Two new 200,000 mstorage tanks will be built, along with related infrastructure. At present the terminal has handling capacity of 6.5 million metric tons/year. Once the third phase is complete, the terminal will have three 160,000 m3 and three 200,000 m3 LNG storage tanks. The total tank capacity will increase from the current 680,000 m3 to 1.08mn m3, CNPC said.

Jiangsu terminal received its first cargo in May 2011. As of end-November, the terminal has processed 5.75mn mt of LNG, more than during the whole of last year. Some media reports, published earlier this year, suggest that the terminal processed 4.4mn mt of LNG in 2017.

In addition to the Jiangsu terminal, PetroChina operates two other terminals: in Tangshan in Hebei province and Dalian in Liaoning province.
