PetroChina Plans LNG Bunker Project in Shenzhen

State-owned PetroChina has signed an agreement with Shenzhen Yantian district government, Yantian Port and Shenzhen Gas to develop China's first LNG bunkering project for international vessels in the city of Shenzhen, its parent company, CNPC, said on June 4 in a statement.

CNPC said that the project will help promote the development of energy-saving and environmentally friendly shipping in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The project will use 8,000-10,000 m3 LNG bunkering vessels to supply LNG to customers including large container ships, Yantian Port said in a separate statement on June 3. In the first phase, the project will have a capacity of 230,000 metric tons/year.

The companies did not say when the project is expected to become operational.
