Petrobras sells Potiguar assets

Brazil’s state-owned Petrobras said on January 28 it had approved the sale of its total stake (100%) in a set of 22 concessions of onshore and shallow water production fields in the Potiguar Basin to oil independent 3 R Potiguar SA.

The value of the sale is estimated at US$1.38bn and includes Petrobras’  infrastructure for processing, refining, logistics, storage, transportation and outflow of oil and natural gas, including the Clara Camaro Refinery.

The average production of the Potiguar Cluster for 2021 was 20,600 barrels of oil equivalent (boe)/day, including 58,100 m³/day of natural gas.

The sale aligns with the company's portfolio management and allocation of capital strategy, aiming to maximise value and provide greater returns.

Petrobras is increasingly concentrating its resources on assets in deep and ultradeep waters, where it has shown a competitive edge over the years, producing better quality hydrocarbons with lower greenhouse gas emissions.

The company said the Campos basin remains strategic in its investment plan and Tupi will remain the largest field producing in ultra-deep waters.
