Petrobras Completes Tests for LNG Expansion

Brazil's Petrobras said on September 17 it had completed operational tests to enable a 50% expansion in the regasification capacity of the Rio de Janeiro LNG import terminal to 30mn m3/day.

The terminal, which hosts a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), is currently capable of bringing ashore 20mn m3/day of gas. Petrobras has awaiting permits from the government to expand the facility's capacity, although it has not said when it expects to receive them.

The tests were required by Rio's environmental agency Inea and by Brazil's national oil regulator ANP.
