Pertamina Keen to Help Kazakhstan in LNG Sector

Pertamina is looking to help its Kazakhstan-based counterpart, KazMunayGas, develop a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in the central Asian nation, reported Jakarta Post.

In return, Pertamina expects the Kazakh firm to invest in Indonesia, particularly in oil and gas drilling, as well as develop new blocks, Jakarta Post said citing Pertamina president director Karen Agustiawan.

In April this year, Pertamina’s Karen met with visiting KazMunayGas chairman Kiinov Lyazzat Ketebayevich in Jakarta to review an opportunity for cooperation in the upstream oil and gas sector.

However, Karen said that Pertamina is not looking to acquire oil and gas blocks in Kazakhstan although she was determined to expand Pertamina’s oil and gas assets overseas to boost the company’s production.
