Perenco UK makes new gas discovery at Ravenspurn South field

Perenco UK on December 11 announced a successful near-field discovery at the Ravenspurn South gas field in the UK Southern North Sea. The new well, designated C06, has proven the presence of gas in a previously undrilled fault block located downdip of the currently producing Ravenspurn South field.

This discovery marks the third successful well drilled by Perenco UK in its 2023 Southern North Sea (SNS) drilling campaign, which is being conducted using the Valaris-247 rig. The campaign previously resulted in the successful drilling of two sidetrack wells at the Ravenspurn North field (D15 and D16), which are now collectively producing 30mn ft3/day of gas.

Perenco estimates that the C06 well will initially produce approximately 12mn ft3/day, starting in January 2024. This is expected to add 21bn ft3 of incremental reserves over 30 years.

Following its completion with the Valaris-247 rig, the C06 well will undergo stimulation using the Petrodec ERDA jack-up barge. A well test will then be conducted to facilitate effective monitoring and clean-up before connecting the produced gas to Perenco's Dimlington terminal via the Cleeton Hub.
