PEGAS to Offer Gas Products for NBP, ZEE, and PSV from March 26

PEGAS announced it will launch Spot and Future products for the UK’s National Balancing Point (NBP) and for Belgium’s Zeebrugge Beach (ZEE) on March 26. The gas trading platform operated by Powernext will also launch Future contracts for Italy’s Punto di Scambio Virtuale (PSV), confirming its intention to increase its weight in the European gas markets.

“The aim of PEGAS is to offer natural gas products for all major European hubs. This is what we will further pursue with our new offering” Jean-François Conil-Lacoste, Chief Executive Officer of Powernext, commented in a note released on Tuesday

According to the platform, the new products will open up ‘completely new trading opportunities.’

‘On the Spot market, the offering for NBP and ZEE will include Within-Day and Day (Day-Ahead, Weekend, Saturday, Sunday and Individual Day) contracts. On the Derivatives Market, Month, Quarter, Season and Calendar Year products will be tradable.’

The platform will also offer trade cleared location spread contracts between ZEE and NBP.

In this way, the platform is expected to increase trading volumes. In September, it said that the total volume registered in August 2014 is almost three times the levels registered in the same period of the previous year.
