Pakistan Petroleum Limited Flows Gas from Sharf X-1 Well in Sindh

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) on Tuesday announced another gas and condensate discovery at its exploration well Sharf X-1 located in Gambat South Block in Sindh province.

PPL is the operator with 65 percent working interest while its joint venture partners Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL) and Asia Resources Oil Limited (AROL) own 25 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

This is the third discovery in the block after gas and condensate discoveries from Wafiq X-1 and Shahdad X-1.

Exploration well Sharf X-1 was spud on April 18, 2014 and reached the final depth of 3,730 meters on July 6, 2014, PPL said.

During the initial the well flowed 42 MMscfd gas along with 199 bbl/d condensate, thus confirming the presence of commercial quantities of natural gas and condensate at Sharf X-1, the company stated.

Two additional zones have been identified that will be tested later, resulting in an expected cumulative production of 60 MMscfd, which translates into approximately 7,400 barrels per day in oil equivalent.
