Pakistan Inaugurates OMV Operated Gas Project

Pakistan on Thursday inaugurated $150 million Latif Gas Field project.

According to Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) the gas field would produce around 100 mmcfd of gas per day.

Speaking at the function, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan was currently facing acute energy crises and supply of indigenous gas was a major component of total energy mix and main stay of economy, APP reported.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources has also formulated very attractive policies for Tight Gas and Low BTU Gas. He said the Ministry was also in the process for formulating Shale Gas Policy to harness abundant shale gas reserves. 

“We are confident that these policy initiatives will attract companies from across the globe to invest in these exciting ventures,” he said.

OMV Pakistan - a subsidiary of Austria largest company OMV - and its partners Eni (33.33%) and Pakistan Petroleum (33.33%) are partners for the development of Latif gas field in Sindh.
