According to the newspaper, the government plans to import 12 cargos of LNG in August, including six via Pakistan State Oil and six through spot purchases by Pakistan LNG.

Recent LNG procurements by the government have sparked controversy. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the country’s main opposition party, has demanded a probe into these purchases.
