Pakistan gets single bid in latest LNG tender

State-owned Pakistan LNG has received a single bid in its latest spot LNG tender for next month against four planned purchases, a document posted on the company’s website showed on June 24.

Qatar Energy Trading was the only bidder, with the company placing a bid of $39.8/mn Btu for July 30-31 delivery. There were no bids for delivery for July 3-4, July 8-9, and July 25-26.

According to local media reports, it is not clear whether the bid will be accepted given such a high price. Pakistan is grappling with widespread blackouts, partly due to gas shortages.
