Pakistan consortium strikes gas

Pakistan's Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) has struck gas with its Umair South East #01 exploration well in Guddu Block, Sindh Province.

The well flowed 1.1mn ft3/day of gas from Habib Rahi limestones in the Pirkoh formation, at drilling depths of 790 metres.  OGDC says Umair is the result of an "aggressive exploration strategy" adopted by the Guddu consortium.

OGDC operates Guddu Block with a 70% equity stake. Its partners are SPUD Energy PTY Ltd. (13.5%), IPR Transoil Corporation & Government Holdings Ltd. (11.5%)  and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (5%).
