Oz Strike Energy Completes Jaws-1

Australian Strike Energy has completed drilling operations at its horizontal Jaws-1 project in the Cooper basin, the company said in a note to the Australian Stock Exchange April 30.

“Strike is now preparing to run the liner and fracture stimulation sleeves into the wellbore which will allow the well to be hydraulically stimulated before final completion and installation of artificial lift pumps,” the company said.

The Jaws-1 project wells are being drilled by Halliburton in collaboration with Ensign. The horizontal well is the second of two well appraisal campaigns designed to prove commercial flow rates of gas and assess the quality of Strike’s Southern Cooper Basin Project in PEL96 (Strike 66.67% and Operator, Energy World Corporation 33.33%).

Earlier in the year, Australia-based energy advisory firm EnergyQuest said that the outcome of Strike’s Jaws-1 well will be “critical for a number of east coast gas buyers”.

The company said it will provide further updates on the progress of the project in due course.
