Senex Hires ex-Origin CFO

Australian oil and gas company Senex Energy has appointed former senior Origin Energy employee Gary Mallet as CFO, the company said April 20.

Mallet has experience in executive and senior financial roles with Australian Stock Exchange-listed and multi-national resources and industrial companies including a 12-year career at Origin Energy where he held the role of group financial controller and most recently, acting chief financial officer, Senex said.

“Gary brings a huge amount of sector-specific finance and leadership experience to Senex. These skills will be fully utilised at Senex as we pursue our east coast gas strategy to deliver a step-change in production and earnings,” Senex managing director and CEO Ian Davies said.

Prior to Origin, Mallet spent five years in senior financial positions with Brambles in the UK and Australia, and six years with North Limited. He is a chartered accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business from RMIT University.

His appointment follows the resignation of Graham Yerbury, who is leaving Senex to join a private equity backed mining and resource business, Senex said. Mallet will officially join Senex next month. Origin's CFO is Lawrie Tremaine, who joined in June 2017.
