Oz Real Energy Inks Hydrogen MoU

Sydney-listed Real Energy’s hydrogen unit has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with US-based Hyzon Motors on jointly developing hydrogen refuelling points in Australia, it said on January 12.

Real's Pure Hydrogen Corp and Hyzon have also agreed to work on a ‘wet hire’ option, where potential customers can hire Hyzon vehicles and receive hydrogen refuelling services for one monthly payment.

This MoU with such an established and respected hydrogen fuel cell vehicle company like Hyzon is an outstanding development and excellent validation of our plans to develop a hydrogen focused energy business in Australia,” Pure Hydrogen’s Scott Brown commented.

Brown added that the company was working on a number of other initiatives that will reflect the value in the Pure Hydrogen business. “We believe we can build significant value in our Pure Hydrogen business for our shareholders and look forward to working with Hyzon.”

Pure Hydrogen is studying the commercial viability of building, owning and operating a hydrogen fuel plant in Queensland with a minimum capacity of 36mn kilograms/year. Potential sites for the plant are being reviewed in the Surat basin, adjacent to Real’s existing 50%-owned Project Venus coalbed methane project, and near Gladstone.
