Oz Cooper Signs Gas Supply Contract

Australian Cooper Energy has signed a new gas supply agreement with glass packaging products manufacturing firm O-I Australia for the supply of gas for 2019 from its Casino Henry gas production in the Otway Basin offshore Victoria, it said October 10 without disclosing the price at which the gas will be supplied.

Cooper will supply 3 terajoules/d (0.08mn m3/d) of gas from its share of production from Casino Henry. Cooper is the operator and a 50% interest holder in the project. Other partners are Mitsui E&P Australia (25%) and Peedamullah Petroleum (25%). Gas supply from Casino Henry is fully contracted for the 2019 calendar year with the O-I contract and the contract with Origin Energy as announced September 20, Cooper said.

This is the second gas supply agreement between O-I and Cooper Energy. The two parties signed the first one 2015 where Cooper agreed to supply 1 petajoules/yr (26.7mn m3/yr) from the Sole gas field. Cooper will begin supplying the gas from the Sole gas field from January 2020 for the life of the project. Production from the Sole gas field is scheduled to commence in July 2019.

“O-I were the foundation gas customer for Sole and their early commitment in August 2015 set the ball rolling for the contracting and financing of the Sole Gas Project. We are delighted to be able to commit an additional supply agreement with O-I,” Cooper managing director David Maxwell said.
