Oz Cooper Completes Sole Pipe Repair

Australia’s Cooper Energy said June 17 that the offshore activities to undertake the repair and testing of the Sole subsea pipeline have been completed.

Work on the onshore element of the project by gas infrastructure firm APA to upgrade the Orbost gas plant to process gas from Sole is advancing, it added. APA has told Cooper that the plant will be ready to receive and process the first Sole gas in the September quarter 2019.

Cooper, which holds 100% equity in the Sole gas field, is undertaking the A$355mn ($243mn) offshore development, while APA is conducting a A$250mn upgrade to the onshore Orbost gas processing plant to enable processing of gas from Sole. The offshore component of the Sole gas project in Gippsland Basin offshore Victoria is forecast to be within the budget, Cooper said.

According to Cooper, the Sole project will deliver an additional 68 terajoules/day (64mn ft3/day) of natural gas supply for southeast Australia.
