Oz Beach Awards Subsea Systems Contract to BHGE

Australia’s Beach Energy has awarded Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE) a contract to supply subsea production systems for its Victorian Otway Basin development project offshore Victoria, South Australia.

The contract was awarded in the first quarter of 2019 and includes medium water horizontal Xmas trees and associated subsea control Semstar5 systems, in addition to wellheads, BHGE said May 7.

“Beach Energy is a key supplier to the Australian east coast natural gas market, and BHGE is supporting this important South Australian brownfield project by driving enhanced efficiencies and bringing its expertise in subsea projects,” it said.

Late last year, Beach agreed to sell 40% of its Victorian Otway interests to O.G. Energy, a division of Ofer Global, which is a private portfolio of international businesses, for A$344mn ($243mn) in cash. Beach remains the operator of the assets.
