Oz AGL Signs Gas Deal with BHP

Australia’s AGL Energy last week entered into a new gas supply agreement (GSA) with BHP Billiton Petroleum (Bass Strait).

AGL will supply 78 petajoules of natural gas from Victoria's Gippsland Basin over a period of 3.25 years, commencing April 2020.

“The GSA will support AGL’s continued supply of its New South Wales and Victorian gas customers,” AGL said May 23.

AGL said it remains committed to securing cost-competitive gas supply for its customers from the domestic market where it is available and new gas supply from international markets through its proposed AGL LNG import terminal project.

AGL’s Crib Point Import Facility is planned to have a capacity of 100 petajoules/year (2.67bn m3/yr). The company has previously said it is expecting to make a final investment decision on the project during the current 2018-2019 (July-June) financial year and to see first gas into the domestic market in the first half of 2020.
