Osaka Gas sets up carbon neutral tech R&D hub

Japanese utility Osaka Gas has established a carbon-neutral technology research and development (R&D) base in the Konohana-ku ward of Osaka, it said on October 7 in a statement.

Through the carbon-neutral research hub (CNRH) the company will accelerate R&D aimed at realising carbon neutrality by 2050. It will also collaborate with other companies in the group to develop carbon-neutral technologies.

CNRH will work for carbon-neutralisation of city gas and the development of technology for producing green hydrogen. In addition, CNRH will contribute to the stabilisation of the power system through the adoption of renewable energy, Osaka Gas said.

Osaka Gas expects CNRH to work with the private sector, government entities, universities and research institutes and develop synergies.
