Ormil Energy Starts CSG Drilling in NSW

Australia’s Ormil Energy has begun drilling for coal seam gas in New South Wales, the company announced Monday.

The well, Apex Burragorang DDH1, will test Illawarra coal measures on the western flank of the Sydney Basin. The well will be drilled to a depth of approx. 560m through the base of the Illawarra Coal Measures.

Assessments suggest that the tenement may contain 1,639 BCF of gas in place within it's 168 sq km of area. Ormil has a farm-in arrangement with Apex Energy that allows Ormil to earn up to a 50% interest in the tenement.
