Orlen Seeks Greater Exposure to Unconventional Gas

In its second quarter report, PKN Orlen said that it continues efforts to increase its presence in the upstream and energy production sectors.

The company said that wide range of exploration activities are currently under way, including seismic surveys on the shale gas licences in the Lublin region.

Orlen holds six licences for exploration of unconventional gas deposits and plans two wells in the second half of 2011, and another in the first half of 2012. The company said that it was seeking acquisition of further licence locations for its exploration activities related to both shale gas and tight gas.
