Oman's Block 8 Sees Jump in Hydrocarbon Output

Production of hydrocarbons from Block 8 offshore Oman’s Musandam peninsula has seen a sharp rise.

DNO International in a report submitted to Ministry of Oil and Gas, has said that output from the block has risen to around 20,000 barrels of oil and condensate and 60 million cubic feet of gas, Oman Observer has said in a news report.

The block contains Sultanate’s only offshore producing fields — Bukha and West Bukha.

These figures compare with an average output of around 7,000 barrels per day of oil and liquids and about 25 million cubic feet per day of gas from the West Bukha field, as well as daily deliveries averaging 1,000 barrels of liquids and over 20 million cubic feet of gas, reported around the middle of last year, the newspaper said.

Besides Block 8, DNO is also the operator of Block 30 in central Oman with a 100 per cent interest, Block 31 in western Oman also as operator with a 100 per cent interest, and Block 47 in north central Oman as operator with a 50 per cent interest.
