Omani Delegation in Iran to Discuss Gas Pipeline

An Omani delegation is in Iran to discuss construction of a gas pipeline, Shana News reported Friday.

The two nations will discuss the choice of an Iranian consultancy, which will be tasked with carrying out basic engineering studies on the pipeline.

Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC), Ali Reza Kameli, told Shana that the Omani delegates have held talks with a number of companies that are candidates for conducting engineering studies on the pipeline, which will connect Iran's Kuh Mobarak region in Hormozgan Province to Oman’s Sohar port over a distance of about 400 kilometers.

The pipeline project will be implemented in two stages. The onshore part of the project will run for about 200 km from Rudan to Kuh Mobarak [both in Iran], while the undersea part, will travel for almost another 200 km to connect Kuh Mobarak to Oman’s Sohar port, Shana reported.

Iran and Oman signed an agreement in 2013 based on which Iran will supply Oman with a daily amount of 28 million cubic meters of natural gas for 15 years.
