Oman, Pakistan Ink Energy Cooperation Agreement

Oman and Pakistan signed an agreement May 15 in Islamabad to cooperate in the oil and gas space, reported state-owned Oman News Agency (ONA) the same day.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Oman by Sheikh Mohammed bin Omar al-Marhoon, country's ambassador to Pakistan, while Pakistani side was represented by Mohammed Jalal Sakandar Sultan, secretary general of the ministry of energy (oil sector).

In a statement to reporters, al Marhoon highlighted the importance of the deal and said it will open the Pakistani market for Omani oil and LNG. Oman International Trading Company, Pakistan State Oil Company and LPG Company will market these products, ONA said.

This agreement with Pakistan comes days after Oman International Trading Company signed a deal to supply 1.0mn metric tons/year of LNG to Bangladesh for 10 years.
