Oil India Finds Gas in NE India

State-owned Oil India made a natural gas discovery at Dinjan-1 well in the northeastern state of Assam during the April-September period, it said on November 13 in a statement.

The well in the Upper Assam basin encountered around 10 m of hydrocarbon-bearing sands and produced gas at the rate of 115,000 m3/day. “This discovery will open up new areas for further oil and gas exploration in Assam and would help in enhancing the gas production with future appraisal and development activities,” Oil India said.

The company, which mostly operates in Assam, did not provide any details about the reserves the discovery may hold.
